Double success for 5th Sutton Coldfield East in District Swimming Gala 2009
Our Group is still celebrating following the resounding double win in the Joint Districts Swimming Gala on 14th November - the Scouts and the Cubs won 1st prize battling it out with their peers from both East & West Districts.

Cub Leader Stephen Williams said "The Cubs worked hard for their place on the team, trained hard, and gave of their very best and have come first for the second year running - Superb!!"

Scout Leader Jo Garvey was "Thrilled!" but it could all have gone so very differently if she and coach Rob Cash hadn't challenged a decision earlier in the gala.

A HUGE thank you to all the families that braved the sweltering heat of the spectators gallery on the evening - you really spurred our teams on!!!

There is a new team of leaders across the 5th Sutton Coldfield East Scout Group from September 2009.  Some of the leaders are new and some of them have moved into new roles.

Brian Stacey who was the Group Scout Leader has moved into the role of District Scout Leader, working our Asst District Commissioner for Scouts (Ray Giles) in supporting the Scout Troops across Sutton Coldfield East District.  We wish Brian well and look forward to seeing him regularly in his new role.

Tim Shaw has now been appointed as Group Scout Leader and Stephen Williams (previously ACSL), who has just finished his degree at Exeter University, moves into the role of Cub Scout Leader. Jo Garvey stays as Scout Leader and Michelle Carrington is the Beaver Scout Leader.
